Help bring this ohana home. This multi-generational family — a mother, her children, and her kupuna — lost the safety of their home after a severe windstorm caused significant roof damage. The leaking roof led to ceiling collapse, water intrusion in the walls, and flooding of the floors. The family did everything right. They filed an insurance claim, and the insurance company’s contractor came out and removed the flooring, drywall, and ceilings throughout the home. Then the insurance company denied coverage, citing an exterior water exclusion — leaving the family with an open, mold-filled structure and no path forward. They are currently displaced in an Airbnb with two weeks remaining in their temporary housing. The financial toll is heavy, and time is running out.
